Tammy do you mean your deck is too much to care for. If that's the case I would recommend having a cement slab poured to the size you want. Its really not that expensive to have it hired out. We did a 10 x 12 and complete it cost $200. If you do it yourself I would recommend you invite some friends over to help you and then invite them back for a cookout to show you appreciate the help. Either way you'll like the slab vs grass
Concrete? I would go with sod.
If you still want a spot to sit or entertain go with the concrete. You still would need to care for a lawn.
You don't have to mow concrete. For some of us that's a plus.
In your situation, I would either go for concrete, or a 40something home lover in good health.
Concrete is easy care.
