I love your ideas, I have a big piece of wood (sandwich type I think), and I would like to use it as a replacement to glass shelves in a cabinet, but not sure how to cut them in the best way - what tool to use.
please help!
Thank you

Measure the area you want to fill, and mark the plank, and then cut. Get all your supplies handy, plus the supports under the shelf. You will be so pleased, J.

That does not answer my question about what tools to use.

All the other things you wrote I know them.

You will need a ruler, a saw, and a right angle, this is all. Do your measuring first, then cut. You may want to measure it twice, just to be sure you got the measurements right., before you cut. For once you cut, it is done. Best wishes, and a lovely holiday to you and your family, J.

I think you are talking about "plywood", you need to buy a plywood blade if you are using a power saw; set the depth so that only about 1/2 inch of the blade shows under the wood. You will need to seal the wood after it is cut and if you want to make it look nice on the out facing sides of the shelf you can nail/glue some trim boards. Be sure to seal the wood well with paint or something like that. Most cabinets I have seen are made out of plywood.

I was talking about a circular saw with a disk type blade. You can cut it with a hand saw but it would be slow and a lot of work. Example: $37.65
