I have loads of crafts, supplies, materials, tools, and containers, yet I still cannot get organized. My craft room is chock full and overflowing. I need help! Will provide pictures at a later date.

  • I combine all my supplies in groups (paper crafting, painting, wreath making) and then use see through tubs to hold them all. That way, I can stack them, and grab just the one I need to go to someone's house.

  • I have stuff in a couple closets and the garage. Just place like items together and start a system that works for you, whether it be bins, boxes, cans, etc.

I have a pegboard with different accessories, the metal things you hang on the board. I put long ones to hold tomato boxes for thread and small stuff. Small hooks for scissors tape measures etc. The board is 4x8 so everything just basically hangs out where I can see it. You could cut the board if you aren't a pack rat like me. I do lots of different crafts and need lots of room,

I agree pegboard is the bomb of crafting rooms. By getting stuff out of draws, on top of surfaces and up on the wall will allow you more room to organize your projects. You need to find what is best for you. I like to have my sewing supplies at hands length, that may not be what you need.

Hello Glenna; What I would do if I were you is this. First of all, do not feel overwhelmed.

If you feel like you need help to organize, Please ask a good friend to come over and help you out.

Decide if you want to donate anything that does not interest you presently.

For all things that you wish to keep, I would group and organize them together.

Keep like items together, and what helps me is to label boxes.

If you do not wish to purchase boxes, Please visit Staples, or a store like it, and ask for the boxes that printer paper come in. You can make labels for the ends, and stack them.

I hope that this helps you!!! if I lived closer, I would come and help you myself!!!

    Take Care!

Easy peasy. Find a day to yourself, pull everything out of the room, clean it, position your craft table near the best light, install rolling plastic storage bins or an old repurposed dresser. Sort your craft items, ie: painting supplies, knitting items, scrap booking items, etc. then store each in a designated bin or drawer for easy access. Label each for easy viewing. You can do this. Once your finished....ENJOY!!!! Best of luck.

First take a few large paper bags and sort all of your supplies in them - using one bag for each specific type of craft. Then gather whatever furniture/file cabinets/large cartons you have and take one bag at a time and organize it in the appropriate storage container until they are all done. Then you can "finesse" the storage containers at your leisure.

I'm so glad you asked. My daughters are all grown up now and have their own families and they left behind two beautiful bedrooms. At first I felt a little guilty about wanting to change one of the rooms to a craft room. However, once I got started I've made it into a room where I can get my girls together and have fun DIY days. I started with putting metal shelving around two of the walls to store all of our goodies. The other half I have two desks and a storage cabinet. I labeled and separated projects by category. I tend to do lots of crafts so I have yarn supplies, paints, jewelry making supplies, etc. Once I got everything sorted it made it super easy to go to a project that I want to work on and finish it. I LOVE MY CRAFT ROOM And it has made some really great memories for me and my girls.
