  • Hot here too. I have double rod curtains on some of my windows, sheers underneath and drapes on top. I draw the drapes closed on days like today, 110°, and keep the house closed up and dark to keep as cool as possible. It does help. Might be something to consider. I found the rods at Big Lots just by chance along with the sheers - $5 per panel - I can't even buy fabric that cheap! Lucked out and found linen curtains on sale at Target for $20 per panel. Has been 3 years now and even with all the washing, holding up great!

Solar shades will block the light, not the view. Reflective window film is an option but beware - it's hard/impossible to remove! You can research solar shade fabrics to DIY. https://insolroll.com/solar-shades-residential/

I have a really wide bamboo rollup shade on my bay window and a wide roman shade underneath to really keep the sun out. All you see is the bamboo shade from the inside and the roman shade from the outside.
