Isn't this backwards?
One thing to keep in mind is to make sure there is NOTHING close to the feeder that the squirrels can use to help them get to your feeder. Secondly, put something around or on top of the feeder that will not hold the squirrel's weight or allow him to grip the feeder anywhere. I have not tried these because Marley, my lab/mix usually alerts me rather frantically when a squirrel is near. .Or any other critter for that matter.
