I have wanted to do a wood plank wall for awhile, and finally did this week. I love the look of shiplap, and wanted to do something similar, but cheaper. So I decided to use thin plywood, and go for a wood plank look. I think the product we bought was underlayment, but it was a while back so I am not positive. It was about $12 for a 4x8 sheet. We bought it at Home Depot and had them cut it into 6 inch planks for us.
Here is the wall we decided to plank. Excuse the bar, it has become a catch all lately.
I began by sanding the edges a bit, and then I stained all the pieces. Then I added a coat of polyurethane.
When that was dry, we began our project. Using some liquid nails, and a nail gun, we attached the planks to the wall.
Here is the top portion of the wall finished.
And here is the finished wall, top and bottom. We were thrilled with the end result, I even cleaned off the bar for pics.

Total time for the wall was about 6 hours including breaks. The prep took about 4 hours, including dry time.
