How do you match the color of paint on your ceiling?'

If you saved the paint can, take it to your home store and a color expert can match the color. If no paint can, take a photo of your ceiling, sometimes a photo can be matched. But you had a leak around the skylight, can you get a chip of paint from that area and have that matched? Good Luck!

if you can, separate from the ceiling a piece of the "Good "paint. then see if you can get a color match on it. paint can change shades in certain lighting.

Paint the entire ceiling, I guarantee you will be unhappy unless you do. Scrape off a piece of the existing paint to take to the paint store to match. Feathering in new to old is an art. Try and see how you like it with only painting the one section. Prove me wrong! 😆

Did you try a bit of bleach and water in a spray bottle? Be sure to put plastic below so carpet and furniture don't get bleach spots.

When matching ceilings or walls, I put some of the paint in a old ice cream bucket, then I add a tiny bit of paint tint at a time, mixing very thoroughly. I buy tubes of tint at paint or hardware store in yellow/gold, blue, or black/grey depending on the hue of the white. Test a bit on ceiling, let almost dry before proceeding.

When buying your paint, first decide if its a flat, satin, semi-gloss or gloss paint. You can also just get a bunch of paint chips in white, making sure you have flat, satin and semigloss chips in various hues, then tape to the ceiling until one matches. Then have your paint store tint a quart to match.

If the stain didn't lift, I would brush on some primer first so it doesn't bleed through. I like using a mini roller to do patch jobs, you can fade it out on the edges once the bulk of the paint is over the spot.

I hate painting ceilings. Don't mind walls though. Have you thought of possibly drawing a light pencil border around the sky light and painting it maybe a shade or two darker than your ceiling, or perhaps buying some of the peel and stick tiles and put them around the skylight. Just some ideas.

yes the above writer is correct if you can get a chip the paint store can match that color. Word of advise I label all my paint cans to each room and I use baby jars it put small amounts in each for touch ups, but remember to label them and I also write down the codes to each paint color.... I know I'm anal about things.

You can take a small chip off the ceiling in an inconspicuous corner to your local paint store... .they should be able to match the color
