Flower Pot to Mushroom & Cup Holder

I have always wanted to make a terracotta flower pot and saucer into a mushroom. I got the idea to make a mini one that could double as a cup holder for me to enjoy. This project is easy, inexpensive, & fun for adults and kids. Feel free to adjust the size of the flower pot and saucer to make a any size mushroom you want. You could even make a very large one that could serve as a seat for a little one. Great for gardens, fairy gardens, gift for someone, etc.

You will need the following:

Terracotta Flower Pot
Terracotta Saucer
Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
Cotton Ball
Silicone
Acrylic Sealer

You can use any size terracotta flower pot and saucer of your choice. I'm using the mini flower pot and a small saucer for my project.
After you pick the paint of your choice, you'll paint the flower pot completely.
You'll also paint the saucer and it's up to you if you want them to be the same or different colors.
After you have painted both, let them dry. Decide if they need more paint or not. The great thing about acrylic paint and the terracotta is that you don't need to use a primer. The lighter the color the more coats you'll need. After you get all the color you need on your terracotta pot and saucer, let them dry completely.
To decorate the top of your saucer with the mushroom spots you'll need another acrylic paint of your choice and a cotton ball.
You will dip the cotton ball in the paint and then begin dabbing the cotton ball onto the top of the saucer making spots.
Place your spots where ever you feel like it, coat as little or as much as you like. Once you have all your spots done, let the paint dry completely.
Silicone or use a glue of your choice to adhere the saucer to the bottom of the flower pot. The silicone will need 24 hours to dry.
Here is a picture from the side of the saucer attached to the flower pot.
After the silicone is dry, you will want to spray it with an acrylic sealer of your choice to seal it. Let it dry completely after spraying it. Once it's dry you can place it outside in your garden, fairy garden, etc ... or ...
Use it as a cup holder on your patio for you to enjoy.
