How to keep down outside umbrella from flying

Tie a piece of string to table centre leaving enough string to also tie around umbrella !

In good conditions, you can extend the umbrella pole and anchor it in a concrete block. If the umbrella is wobbly, you can use a pool noodle piece to secure it. But one law of industrial physics can be boiled down to this. Umbrellas will catch the wind, whether it is raining or not. Patio umbrellas will fly in strong winds or bad storms. Just as nice patio cushions, lanterns, and other pieces of decor would not be left outside in bad conditions, outside umbrellas are for decoration and blocking the sun, and should be brought in or placed in a storage bin or building. If you try to tie it down or anchor it in place in a storm, it might tear loose and rip, or destroy something it hits. Best wishes 😇

You could try taking it down on windy days. Or, at least, folded down and secured. You can tie bungee cords around it to secure it. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

If weather looks to be bad, I just crank it closed to be safe. Or take and store in garage.

I just use a bungee cord for both of mine and I have not had an issue even when the wind was blowing hard enough to open the hot tub lid!! I just strap the bungee cord down fairly low on the umbrella. Have a fabulous day!
