There is just something so sweet and perfect about berry baskets- so when I found some at a thrift store, I decided to create pretty summer decor pieces that doubled as bookends! Please click HERE for the full how-to tutorial.
These are the berry baskets I found at the thrift store that inspired this project! I wish they hadn't written the price on the side, but I'll just have to put that side towards the back.
To transform these into functional decor, I scouted out some adorable vintage berry fabric.
After giving my baskets a non-slip treatment ( Head over to my blog for the details! ), I filled small baggies with river rocks to give my baskets some weight.
Then I just needed my "berry top" for my baskets! So, I used my strawberry fabric and some fiberfill to create the "toppers".
Now, I'm ready to finish them up! I just need to flip over the berry topper and tuck it into my basket. To make it permanent, I'd dot some glue inside the basket rim before tucking the topper in.
And there they are- fun little berry baskets that are fun summer decor and also can hold up your favorite summer beach reads or cookbooks! They could also be used as pincushions, as well. Happy summer!

Like Sandygirl53 where I live I haven't seen wooden berry baskets for ages! Do you think painting a plastic basket would work?
