We all grow these amazing flowers, wouldn't it be great to preserve them in some way to enjoy them year around? Here is a way to dry them and preserve them. Pressed flowers can be made into so many different things. In this post, I'll be teaching you how to press and preserve them, and make a sun catcher with them.

Pick some flowers you you like and bring them in your house.
On a paper towel, decide how you want to try pressing your flowers. I suggest picking several options as they sometimes don't dry quite like you hoped - they can change color, don't dry the right angel etc. Decide if you want a stem, no stem, leaves, etc.
Place another paper towel on top of the flowers.
Place several books on top of the paper towels and flowers. This will press them flat. You'll want to leave them like this for about a week. This also allows the flowers to start drying out. If you don't wait until they are dry, they can curl back up. The drying also preserves them so that you don't have to worry about mold and other growth.
After about a week, carefully peel off the top paper towel. Here are my dried flowers. They are still a little pliable at this point which is nice as they aren't quite so fragile and brittle yet.
For the sun catcher you'll need two picture frames.

*You are always welcome to just make a picture using one frame instead of the sun catcher if desired.
Open the frame up, and place the flowers in the frame as you would like them to be.
Take apart your second frame, and pull out the glass. You'll need this piece to complete the sun catcher.
Place the second piece of glass on the back of the first frame over the flowers.
Push the prongs on the back into place over the glass. My frame came with a little cardboard piece inside the frame, I decided to use it over the second glass piece and then pushed the prongs in place. If you just have the prongs, you might want to hot glue the edge of the second piece of glass into place to secure the glass and help the 2 glass pieces hold tight together to hold the flowers in place.
Place your sun catcher in a window to enjoy. Makes a great gift for someone as well.
This is a great way to preserve your flowers that you grow so they last. You will be able to enjoy them still when your flowers outside are long gone.

Don't the flowers fade from sun exposure?

Love this idea. Could you also glue the second frame to the back of the first frame so that the sun catcher is the same on both sides?
