Hello there! What is the point of camping if you aren't making s'mores? What if you aren't camping, should you go s'more-less? Absolutely not. Assembling a s'more roasting station is pretty simple but it can be as fancy as you want it to be. Today I am opting for the glamorous life by creating a mantle.
You need a drill (don't be scared of power tools!), 12x2" piece of raw lumber the more rustic details the better, skewers, 2 ornate rustic looking branches (from outside), Hot glue, paint swatches from home depot in your desired color scheme, thread, white glue, pickling wash paint and a paintbrush.
Use a 1/2" bit to make 2 shallow holes (one on each side) that the branches can comfortably fit in. The size of bit will vary depending on the size of your branches. Using a smaller bit (about 1/8") make 5 holes for skewers. The spacing is entirely up to you.

Fill the larger holes with hot glue.
Place your branches in the hot glued holes and hold firmly.
Once the branches are set it is time to use your pickling wash. Pickling wash gives wood a thin stain in various colors. I used Gypsy Rose from Folk Art.
With a paintbrush apply the stain in a thin layer.
Allow the paint to "seep" for 30 seconds, wipe off, let dry. Repeat the process twice.
While your base is drying this this the perfect time to prepare the details. Cut down skewers to various heights to add dimension to your mantle.
To make mini garlands: Cut the paint swatches into rectangles, fold and use white glue to "sandwich" around brown sewing thread.
I used my Cricut to add other details like the menu and other labels.
Attach roasted marshmallows to the skewers then place them into the holes. Tie the garland onto the mantle. Add height by placing on top of a wooden crate (great for storage as well) and now you are ready for glamping you might skip the "great outdoors" altogether!
