We wanted to in large our deck, the floor was in good shape. The deck had stairs that were in bad shape, that needed to be removed.

Here is old deck next to new addition, old deck very dirty, but in good shape.

Floor for new addition. Railings had to be removed (they were warped and cracked).

For this project, we used Olympic deck cleaner(Stress Free). Just apply and use a floor brush for build up. We used a pressure washer, this worked so well, but a strong sprayer would do the trick!

We let the deck dry 24 hours. We decided to go with textured deck stain (Behr Textured deck Over called chocolate). This is thicker than most, but we wanted to blend the old with the new to look like they were built at the same time.

With the new railings and floor down. A light stain was used for the railings.

This area is where the deck steps were, replaced by walk way and ramp. I made a little zen garden to fill in that space.

Going on 2 years now! This deck has given us so much! We now have more space, a safer space to relax and entertain. Marrying the old with the new!
