Does anybody have ideas on how to declutter a 7 year old boys room?

I like those nets you can put up in a corner to hold stuffed animals. Let him keep a couple of his favorites on his bed. Those under the bed boxes on wheels are great for holding games, electronics and a separate one for Legos. You can put in dividers for holding games, cords, etc. to be able to keep those things neater and more easily found. If he has room in his closet you could also use those plastic drawers that come in different height sizes. He could keep finished art things in one skinny drawer crayons in one, markers in another, etc.

You can always monitor to see what he doesn't play with as much and use this as a chance to teach a great lesson in sharing.Talk to him about poor kids who don't have as much as he does and let him go with you to donate them to your local Goodwill,Salvation Army or whatever is your local thrift store.He may even get the chance to go with you to a daycare facility to see if they can use them.Good luck 😊

Seven year old boys still have short clothes so I would try utilizing some of his closet space. Create some type of shelving in the bottom, this will allow you to put things in bins. I have found that Legos work best in clear plastic totes. Stuffed animal hammocks that hang from the wall or ceiling work great for that in-between time when the stuffed animals still have to be there but aren't played with as often. Let him keep one or two of his favorites on his bed. Try to get him into the routine that before you can take a new toy out the other one has to be put away. Having had five boys I understand that 7 year old boys are a whirlwind of activity and containing that energy is not an easy task. Good luck and I hope you don't step on a Lego in the dark, LOL.

Clear plastic bins with labels . Before he can play with something new, and I kept the bins on shelves in their closets, they had to pick up the old . Twice a year at birthday and Christmas we clean out make a huge donation of toys , knowing that there will be new presents coming in. I have 4 boys and the youngest is 9.

They have a chair like a bean bag cover that are filled with stuffed toys and zipped up would prove gameing chair. Totes for Lego you could attach th the Lego building pads green ones to the top of his Lego totes. Book case and bins for toy cars, and video games etc. Or DIY shadow box car display.

First, declutter...suggest a yard sale and he keeps the money...

Thank you all so much! We do donations before birthday and holidays (hey if Santa or the Easter Bunny see he doesn't have room for toys...). He has a trundle bed so under the bed storage isn't an option (drawers on trundle are for sheets/blankets/etc). We use bean bag chairs for stuffed animal storage but it's getting to the point we can start a plushie zoo. He just as so much stuff... And so many video games now even require stuff (Lego dimensions/Skylanders/infinity). He is really good about putting stuff in bins back before taking stuff out but it's getting crazy :)

Does his room have room for a unit that holds cloth baskets...they come in two four or six at the Lowes? Otherwise how about just plain wooden bookshelves in his room....you could put the bins in there or buy the shoe size bins for putting the smaller things and even his video games and other book/games on the shelves.

Teach him to put away one thing before he starts another. I think hammocks are great for stuff animals if you have alot.

All good and practical ideas. One thing that worked for us was to ask people to stop buying stuffed animals, it made a HUGE difference. Games are easier to organize.
