Replaced a headlight lens recently. The one not replaced has some type of build up on it. Washing does not help.

try tooth paste. Not a gel type. But the older gritty Paste type, took the scratches out of plexiglass and the head lights on my truck.

if you make a paste of baking soda and water and rub it on in circular motions until covered, then rinse off, it should remove a lot of that buildup. If that doesn't cause a major difference, try adding salt to the paste and redoing it

There are a few different things you can try. One is a great product called awesome. Another, you can try using a paste of baking soda with a scrubbie of some type. Then there is using a steam cleaner.

Take your car to a body shop and they will buff it out, not a permanent solution but good. Maybe a "magic eraser" test in small ares first.

I've also heard polishing compound for cars may work. I tried the toothpaste method on my last car and it did help. Not 100%, but, better.

White toothpaste will clean it up, but you need to some sort of clear sealant on or the first rain will have it right back to where it is now .
