If you are painting to put your place up for sale....check with a realtor....they know what colors sell. If you are painting for your own house....look in your closet...what's the dominate color? It must be the one you feel most comfortable in? Use a shade or shades of that color. Each paint company will have thier own ....trendy...colors.
