There are humming bird bushes that are easy to grow, and are pretty : ) They come back each year and the humming birds love them. Just remember that all of the flowers or bushes that you plant to attract humming birds will also attract bees.

Most hummingbird feeders have red on them already. Mix the nectar, homemade is best, 1 part white sugar to 4 parts filtered water, simmer to dissolve the sugar, allow to cool. Hang your feeder and they will come. Don't be disappointed if you only get one, that guards the feeder and spends all his energy making sure no one else gets a sip. I planted Rose of Sharon and Lantana for them, so no one is starving. Do not use food coloring, it is toxic to them. You can purchase a feeder that is ant proof, as well.
