I used a sponge brush...I have been upset with my project as I have to keep repainting it. chalk is OK but if I use any of the chalk markers...they won't completely erase take care!

I use any inexpensive Nylon or Acrylic brush; naturally, buying the correct size needed for the job. If I'm just doing a small project such as a frame or small box, I simply use one of my artists' brushes, washing it well so I can use it later for my canvas paintings.

In my opinion only, I have found that not "skimping" on brushes are very important. Annie Sloan brushes are expensive but they're worth every penny -then some- they'll last forever with proper care. I wish I had the money back that I've spent on cheap throw away brushes over the years.

An angled paint brush for the chalk paint and a wax brush if you put a wax coat on it.
