Painting Plain Cushions to Cozy Cabin for Two New Sitting Areas!

Blame this one on my most recent little cabin in the woods getaway. Once I returned home, I yearned for the cozy cabin feel I left behind.

So I promptly went shopping! Oh yes I did. I desired to recreate an outdoor living room space that I missed desperately.

First stop was to find an outdoor table and chairs I loved. Check!

But once my eyes scanned over the choice of a red cushion, I knew EXACTLY what I would be doing to create my own little cozy cabin getaway right in my own back yard.

Here's what I did:
When my eyes landed on these plain red chair cushions, that instantly sealed the deal! This was gonna be fun!
A Buffalo Check stencil (found HERE) was used, with the image stenciled in black on the chair pad.

Tip: The outdoor fabric was challenging to work with as masking tape didn't want to stick to it to help position the stencil. So I came up with an easy fix using an empty picture frame.

Apply gentle pressure to the frame over top the stencil, then paint. Worked like a charm!

The 'see more' blog post link below showcases all the extra details to make this idea sing.
Sitting area 1:

This plain wall in my backyard could really use a little bistro area. Problem is, I always seemed to store tall boards on this wall. Let's put them to good use!
More wood planks were stacked side by side, then other planks were screwed on top to hold the works in place, creating a pretty unique back drop!
Two chairs plus a bistro table chimed in perfectly! Cabin style of course!

Isn't that cushion striking?!
Sitting area 2:

Old windows were hung in patio openings, creating definition without hindering the pretty view.
Boom! The new wicker resin table and chairs (teamed up with a couple of windsor chairs I had) created quite the cozy cabin dining area I craved!

While all 4 wicker chairs could be brought to the table area, I prefer the mix and matched look this provides. Plus, the resin chairs are water proof for in the bistro area.
But if I could be perfectly honest? The plain red chair pads absolutely paled in comparison to the new Buffalo Checked design. This pattern totally ramped things up.

My two new sitting areas may not be a real cabin in the woods...
But they sure feel like one... that I can visit anytime I wish! icon

So, your $150 budget includes store bought furniture? The plaid stencil is so cool--I didn't realize you could even do that. Best wishes 😇
