How to decorate large windows.

Our family room was an outdoor porch. It was enclosed and there are large picture windows between our living room and the family room. Any hints on how to decorate?

Do you like the openess or are you wanting to make it more like the 2 separate rooms that it is? Maybe a shelf under the window with some plants on it and maybe some hanging as well... interior shutters....Cafe style curtains.....are you more rustic, contemporary, traditional?

There is a door with 3 windows in between the 2 large plate glass windows which now have sheer curtains on them. All 3 are the same height but the windows are about 6" different in width. I do want the light to come through to my rooms. The left window faces my living room and the right faces my dining room. My style...mixed...contemporary, modern, antiques, artwork.

Would something like this work? I have also seen pictures hung in columns which would cover more area.

If you need an extra long curtain rod look at pvc pipe (sanded to a mat finish and/or stained) or electrical conduit piping (tops out at 10ft and is heavier)

Use Hodge podge and lace to cover window light can still come thru and yet you have privacy. I did my kitchen window. Love it!

I used a lace plastic tablecloth. Same look easy to clean. Not sure with real lace don't think it will be as easy to clean.

Macrame curtains, stain glass (either fill or diy with paint), metal wall hangings hung in between the panes

I'm not sure if macramé curtains would go with my décor. These windows are large with no panes...picture windows. Want something different and not expensive. Thank you.

If money is not an issue, how about installing plantation shutters which you can open and close when you want.

I love them but it would be too expensive right now. Thanks for your suggestion.

Thank you...it's a great idea. I do have a lot of artwork and family photos.

I photo would be helpful but here an idea for you. You don't want to completely cover that window because it's the focal view towards your inclosed family room.
