Antique Chair Planter

15 Minutes

Living in Minnesota we don't get to enjoy our flowers year round. I always get a potted plant from Costco (they seem to grow and stay nice looking the longest for me). I like to keep it on our porch. So I would just plunk it down. As it grows I drape it down the steps. But this year I came across an old antique chair at a local antique shop. And I thought, hmm, if I cut out the wicker center (the seat part) I could put the pot in there. Thus the plant will drape down the chair vs on the cement step. Easy enough to cut out the seat part of the chair as it was pretty old. I then scraped off some of the white paint to give more of a weathered look to the chair.
The chair was $5 and I couldn't be more pleased.
I did this in May so plant is starting to drape.
you can see the pot and the wicker bottom I cut away.
view from under the chair.
Less mess on the cement and the plant can keep growing...

I'm painting my old chair I use for a planter right now. It got ruined from the water and hot sun. I fixed it, painted it a light green, it's almost done. So cute

Please tell me the rush or wicker seat that you cut out was not in good condition; I would hate to think it was and you cut it out anyway.

It was not in good condition... you would not be able to sit on the chair safely. I wouldn't trust it...
