What is the best way to ammend this darn clay soil in the OKC area?

I lived in Enid, OK for 75%of my life.....where the soil was black and moist and you could grow just about anything......moved south to Edmond, OK and all they have here is brick hard red clay...................aargh!!!!

I lived for 25 years with adobe clay soil and it is just the worst to deal with. Rock hard, clumps, does not accept water easily and once wet it is like glue-mud. I found that by adding SAND to whatever area I was working, this helped to keep it more like normal dirt. I know there are other additives that can be used, but the sand was easy to do. I swore that even if I found my dream house I would never buy it if there was adobe soil. My present home has normal dirt, and I am grateful. :)
Rototill the soil,add top soil,composted manure,Gypsum,and pelletized lime
Dig in Sand
