Our home had landscaping from when the home was constructed a few years ago. It wasn't our taste...some of the plantings seemed haphazardly placed. I like for things to be symmetrical. I researched plants and shrubs that would work good in our zone. I also searched for plants that would be resistant to the heat and simple to care for.

We decided on loropetalum, dwarf azaleas, drift roses and liriope. We added a Little gem magnolia, a juniper and crape myrtle tree. We also changed the angle and shape of the mulch beds and the sod. Before one side was a sharp angle and the other side had curves. We added some sod and tightened the mulch beds up and added curves to both sides.

We transplanted many of the previous plants to the side and back yard. The plants we knew we wouldn't have room to use we ran an ad on craigslist for free and all were gone within 1 hour. Giving us a clean slate to arrange the new plants. We sat them all around tweaking and changing until it looked right to us. It updated our curb appeal and we are very happy with the final look.
