2 Tier Table Brought Back to Life

This poor little table was up in the loft of our barn for years, and unfortunately, the elements did a number on it. It is made with veneer, so I couldn't just sand and refinish, well, maybe you can, but I didn't. The price is only a guess, as I had some materials at home. I looked to ebay.com for a comparison for the cost of the table itself, and added that to the cost of the rest of the materials. Just know if you have any of the materials on hand, your price will decrease a lot. As for the time, I had to work around my schedule, so your time might be faster.
I started off by sanding the table all over lightly with a 220 grit sandpaper.  Then I took a damp cloth to wipe away particles, then let it dry.
Next I spray painted it with 2 cans of cheap white spray paint I'd purchased from Walmart.  I made sure to paint the top extra white, and will explain in a minute why. I also sprayed under the tiers.
First of all, to me this pic looks blue, but it's actually white.  My camera must have been low on batteries.  OK, now, I found an old crocheted doily that was stained, and I placed it on the top tier.  I tried to center it best I could.  Not knowing what would happen if I tried to temporarily glue the doily in place, I made sure the wind wasn't blowing when I did the next part.
Using 2 cans of Rust-Oleum Satin French Blue spray paint, I started on the top tier, making sure I use extra paint. I held the can pretty much right on top of the doily so the spray wouldn't lift it up.  I painted the whole table twice, drying in-between spraying, except the top where I sprayed it well with the first coat.  Take the doily off while the paint is still wet.  I suggest you coat the doily first, as a little paint did seep thru.  Not sure what you would use to do this, maybe someone can suggest something.
Here is the finished project after taking 220 grit sandpaper and distressing the edges.  I also sanded the top tier just a little, so it didn't look freshly painted.  As you can see, a couple edges of the doily looks smeared, that's because of the paint soaking into it, but to me it actually gives it an old time feel.
