What to do when the orchids stop blooming?

It takes time for more blooms to form, they last a long time and it takes a while for it to get the energy up to form more flowers. I am lucky, mine bloom three times a year so far, but it is usually only twice a year. Give it a little fertilizer and continue watering once a week with tepid water. I hope yours is in a double planter with the wood chips that they like. If they are, soak the plant for ten to fifteen minutes in tepid water, take the inner pot out and let in drain, then put it back in the decorative pot. Do not use ice cubes, it would be no different if you had to take only freezing cold showers when you are used to hot showers. Orchids are from the rain forest and get their moisture from the rain that comes of the dense canopy and the humidity that is a constant in the rain forest. They do not like wet feet that they would get planted in soil. In the rain forest they root onto the bark up in the canopy, not down below in the soil. Be patient, as long as your orchid is happy it will bloom again for you.
