Are you interested in the lumber or for fire wood? Many lumber mills won't take city trees....may have nails, other metals in them. You will have to saw it your self, if you want fire wood....it needs to dry out. That can take a while.

You can offer it to your neighbors if you don't want to keep it for firewood, or ask them if they know anyone that would be interested in it.

  • We let it "season" for a year and use on camping trips for firewood or in our fire pits. Slices can be used for craft projects - "live edge" items are one of the hot trends right now. You can make wall plaques, chargers for your dining room table, even a lamp from a sturdy limb. Or just advertise and sell or give away to those that might want it.

You can have it cut into fire wood. Stack it and let it dry. You could ask whoever is cutting down tree to cut wood circles from the trunk, thick branches and smaller branches, let them dry out and use for crafts, painting on, what have you. If you don't want the wood, you can list it "Free for the Taking" on Craig's List. There are lot's of people, who, if you live in a colder clime, get their winter wood for heating this way. You could hire someone to come and chip it up. You could use it in you garden. Depending on the kind of tree, you could use long straight pieces for to make walking sticks.

put it at the curb and put FREE sign on it, if pine is used in fireplaces, someone will take it.

You could mulch it to spread around other plants.

The tree service should have hauled it away. You cannot burn it in a fire place. You probably do not have a wood kiln to remove sap and make it useable for projects. They are magnets for wood beetles and termites.

dry out for the rest of the summer ( keep it dry) . Great for fire place or fire pit. Sell to someone who has fireplace.
