Clog Prevention: The Usual Suspects

Preventing clogs is so much easier, and less stressful, than having to fix the problem later. Here are a few quick tips to help you around drains:
-Avoid flushing solid items down the drain when possible. Cooking grease is particularly problematic and it solidifies as it cools.
-Place a stainer over the drain in bathtub and shower to catch hair. Be sure to empty it after each shower or it will clog up.
-Consider adding a water softener to help reduce soap scum.
Hair, coffee grounds, and cooking grease are all bad for drains.
A tub strainer is an excellent way to prevent hair clogs.
