My master bathroom has no door and it's driving me crazy!! It's a narrow opening and my skills are limited so I don't think I can install a door. I'm looking for an alternative to a door . Don't like accordion doors.

Put a tension rod up and hang a drape

You could use a heavy fabric curtain....maybe with grommets at the top so it is easy enough to open and close. You could use a heavy duty tension rod [maybe a shower curtain tension rod] to mount it on.....or perhaps a regular rod, mounted above the doorway. Alternatively, there are "barn door" kits at hardware stores......hope you find the right idea for you! :)

    What about a heavy curtain?

I put a shower curtain up on mine. I found a beautiful cloth-like one that had a valance. The rod was one of those kind that you don't need to use anything to hold it up - tension might be the name

There are now several options for a "barn" door style solution (slides open on rail). Kits are available at home improvement stores. Another option is a pocket door if possible, but that is a lot more work!

Even a tension rod with a sheet will close it off, if that is what you want to do. We did this once when we added a bathroom to the basement in one of the bedrooms that had the drain, etc. already in place. We put up walls, but went with matching sheets to cover the door and also to close off the closet we put in instead of a shower.

  • Call a contractor and see if it is possible to insert a pocket door that rolls along a track within the wall.

Or get a tennsion rod and place in doorway. Make a curtain to coordinate with your decor. A pretty sheet will work and easy to make no sew options.

I wouldn't use a tension rod as it will eventually fall down over time. Use a regular curtain rod instead...the round kind.

You could hang a curtain for bathroom privacy.

Hi Carmen, you could pick up a nice room divider and place it so you just move it a bit for privacy. You could also pin nice tapestry to the top.

Hi Carme, you can hang a curtain in the opeining. It won't block sound and be as secure, but it will give you privacy
