Hello Michelle; I had this issue when I had a tiny home.

I used clear heavy plastic boxes. I labeled the ends, and I stored a lot of things in these boxes. I still use some of them to this day!!!

Also, You can purchase small shelves, and also a rolling rod to hang clothing on.

I hope that this helps you!! Take Care!

Make to Rails one on top of other. Use back of door over rack.

The first thing you want to do is weeding. Go through your clothes and shoes and anything that hasn't been worn in the last year should have to go. I actually do this every 6 months. Utilize under the bed storage containers and vacuum seal bags for clothes that aren't in season. Get over the door shoe bags to help get the shoes out of the way. On Amazon they have closet rod extenders that hang from the closet rod that you have doubling the amount of space you have to hang things.

Lifestyle changes have made it necessary for me to downsize my wardrobe. I lost two dress sizes and altering was not possible on many of my outfits. So, find a charity you like that will pick up clothes, shoes, or just about anything else. Since I am now retired and my social life has changed, I find that my dress up clothes, though perfect, no longer fit and would not be used anyway. As much as it hurt it felt good to give them to someone else and then buy myself new clothes that meant comfort and relaxation. Charity can be quite a high.

Look under the Organizing section of Hometalk. There are some great suggestions there.

Many, many yrs. ago I had California Closets install new closets in all three bedrooms, main hall (2), sitting/TV rm. Did it gradually because it "ain't cheap" but it is the best investment I ever made in my 1,400 sq. ft. home.

Also, do as the organizers say - Get rid of anything that you haven't worn in the last 1-3 yrs. I am now retired and have given away more than 16 bags of clothing to a local church.
