Hope someone can help. I have family room with all white walls, and I have an orange couch. I'd like to paint the wall opposite the couch a matching orange, the accents on the wall decor will be black and white. The wall is about 8 ft wide On the wall I want to paint orange there is a brown hollow door leading to the basement, I'd like to continue with the orange including the case around the door. Can a door be painted more or less, to blend in with wall? Thanks in advance.

I don't see why not. Or you could paint the door the same orange and paint the trim around the door white to make it stand out, since you will have black and white wall decor.

Absolutely. The door & frame will need to be sanded, primed then painted to match your wall. It's a decorator's trick to paint a door the same color as the wall. Orange is not my first color choice for resale purposes, but Your Home, Your Rules! Best of luck.

I think painting the door black and white would add some dimension and cohesiveness.

Matching paint color might not be a good idea. Try a shade or two lighter and your accents will look more attractive.

Ok I have some pictures normally an orange couch the best color on the color wheel is a teal, it would be over kill doing a orange wall, (total mistake) here's a picture for the idea. These color play well with orange and all trim and doors paint white, this accents and keeps the eyes moving around for that wow factor.

  • You can try painting it and if you don't like the orange, you can always repaint.
