Today I am making some extra special leather flowers for the flower girls (ummm, I am treading on thin ice even using this term as my very “grown up” 7 year old will tell anyone who will listen, that she is a junior bridesmaid and that she is way too old to be a flower girl).
I love this project because it is super thrifty, while being just a little different. I mean, doesn’t leather give a project an instant edge? I figured that since the girls were going to be in grey lace, why not bust out the leather scraps. These will be for their hair, but I am thinking that I may need to take it a step further with leather bracelets. Or, maybe a leather flower for their waists.

Supplies:
  • leather scraps, in your color of choice
  • water
  • needle
  • thread
  • beads
  • bobby pin

First step, cut out the shapes.  I chose to do a simple daisy shape.
Next, I wet the leather cut outs so that I could change the shape of the flowers (I wasn’t digging them being so flat and undimensional).  Then twist away, leaving them to dry over night.
Once they dry, untwist the petals and work them into the shape you like. I love the texture of this leather flower hair piece!
Now, simply sew the layers together
I used a bobby pin but feel free to use any type of hair clip
I chose to sew a pile of silver beads for my center. Start by sewing the beads directly onto the leather, and then finish off by sewing several beads directly to the first layer of beads.  Basically sewing through the already tacked on beads.  It gives it way more dimension and feels like a happy jumble of bling!
The result is pretty darn special! Evangeline is excited about her new adornment with it’s rock n’ roll twist!
FLOWER POWER!!!
Thanks for checking in! More wedding projects to come!
xoxo,
Chanda
