Help with identifying this plant

not positive but looks like barberry

I had my grass aerated and the next thing I knew, my grass was almost gone and these things were every where! I took it to Home Depot and they told me that it was a weed, but did not know the name of it. It is very invasive and hard to get rid of.

In Kerala it named "Thakara" it's used to cook

In Guam we call it Tangen tangen. It was used to feed cattle and makes a decent tea. It is very invasive, fast growing and camouflages everything in the jungles and along the coast until beaten back by a typhoon.
