Narvon Walkway

Willow Gates Landscaping
by Willow Gates Landscaping
We replaced a deteriorating brick front walkway and tilted concrete block steps, and covered the existing concrete steps at the front door with bullnose treads. Since we were dealing with some soft clay subsoils, we excavated a little deeper and compacted 3-4" stone into the soil, installed geo-textile, and finished with 6"+ of compacted 2A modified stone.
One of the most striking set of steps we have built. Techo-Bloc Mini Creta wall & step risers, smooth Chocolate Brown bullnose pavers, and Hera pavers in Sandlewood and bordered with Chocolate Brown.
Concrete steps at front door needed some improvements. Risers were not consistent height, and admittedly concrete is rather plain. Adding bullnose will correct the inconsistent riser issues, and add some aesthetic value.
Geotextile is used on every job. This job in particular required the additional strength, as the subgrade was soft clay soil.
You can see the large 3-4" stone, which was compacted into the soft soils before the geotextile and 2A modified stone base was installed.
Techo-Bloc Belgik curbstone was installed between the flowerbed and walkway. On the other side of the front steps, the line is continued to separate the flowerbed and lawn.

I love the way this turned out! Now imagine how beautiful it would look if you added containers, full of beautiful plants, on the top of each of the side blocks? Congratulations on a job well done, and thanks for sharing!

Containers could add a nice touch, but... it was late in the season and the clients are all about low maintenance. :)
