From Glass Jars to Elegant China

My mom had a strong love for blue and white floral china. She passed the love down to me and I've been on the look out to start collecting my own. I then had a thought- I could DIY them! So I did :) With just a few glass jars, spray paint, and acrylic paint- I made it happen!

I collected a few discarded glass jars and then placed them on paper so I can spray paint them. I did this part outside! Those spray paint fumes can be intense!

Then I sprayed away! This part is really fun :)

I tried my best to cover the entirety of the glass jars, but I knew I'd come back and do a second coat.

Then I let the jars sit out on my porch and dry.

They dried with a bit of a crackle effect, I figured it would work with the china look I was going for.

Once the jars were fully dried, I brought them inside and got ready to transform them! I set up my blue acrylic paint, a small detail brush, and some water in a cup on hand. (Acrylic paints can be mixed with a bit of water for a smoother consistency.)

Then I really got to work! Keeping my mom's old china sets in mind, I tried to recreate the soft floral designs.

I found that less planning, and more just going with it worked!

I had way too much fun painting these floral designs!

Each one is unique! I love my new faux china jars! The uses for them are endless!

They work super well as makeup holders, or you can use them as small vases. I think I will pick up some Hydrangeas!

Beautiful job! would like to try it, but my painting skills are not that great, think I might look for a small stencil to use.
