6 year old girls are fun, so I think injecting colour would be good. I'd just paint the furniture white so it will go with any future colours you choose. If you want to keep the bedding, I'd just tie long ribbons in pink, blue, white to a hoola-hoop. Attach the hoola-hoop to the ceiling above the pillows and drape the ribbons down and attach to the side of the headboard to make a canopy of sorts.

i agree that painting the furniture white would brighten any room. Next cover the ceiling in waist coating painted white, as well as the bottom half of one wall. Pick a soft blue or pink for walls.

This basic plan allows bedding to be updated as she grows-good luck!

Agreed on white furniture and walls. I'd scrap the bedspread - it's quite dated and old-fashioned looking. The big chain stores sell "bed in a bag" sets made for kids at low prices! ASK her what her favorite colors are before making decisions.

She will want a small table for crafts, etc. Maybe an indoor tent to play in. Give the drawers some fun, bright pulls (again, think Target for low cost). Bookshelves to get her started as a reader.

The ceiling is a quandary as you ideally want to brighten and update that also but must make sure they won't come down. Consider faux tin tiles that merely glue on top. The carpet doesn't look floor sitting friendly. If you can't replace it, at least get an area rug that is fun and comfy for her.

Most of all....have FUN and do it with her help!

First I would check the Habitat for Humanity stores to see if they have any paint to use on the furniture and walls. Sometimes the diy stores have discounted paint that people had mixed and didn't want. When my daughter was little, I painted a garden on her walls with paint from the craft store and she collected rocks and lined the floor boards with them, she said all gardens have rocks. Lol. If you cannot paint designs then you could always get some colorful card stock from the craft store and cut out designs and use double sided tape to stick them to the walls. The dollar tree stores have certain Birthday decorations that you can use to decorate with, you just have to modify them a little. I bought a bunch of flower and butterfly decorations for my granddaughters Birthday and now she can repurpose them to go with her garden them for her room. You can also get bird houses at the craft store and paint them with bright colors to go with a garden them. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I agree it is a good option, to understand what she likes
