What can I do with the downed maple tree in my yard?

This maple had to be cut down. It was very old, and I was heartbroken as it provided shade and beauty for many years. I would like to preserve at least some of it by making something out of the stumps.

  • Great idea! Any wood you want to use will need to be "seasoned" - typically I leave mine out for a year to dry out. Will give you lots of time to find the perfect projects. Keep as much wood as you think you might want to craft with. Either sell or give away the rest for firewood or keep for yourself - still needs to lay around awhile to be firewood ready.

Can you balance a nice solid bird bath on a stump? You can even consider adding a solar fountain feature to intrique both humans and the birds! I wonder if you could drill some holes in the stump and plant succulents in/on it? Or maybe a place to put a sun dial surrounded by flowers in a new garden built around the stump? Have fun!

Hello Much; I am sorry for the loss of your tree!!!

What about making a "stump" ottoman. You could also use the stump piece in your Garden.

I would keep any small pieces, and would use them for Crafting!!!

You can make ornaments out of smaller pieces!!

I hope that this gives you some ideas, and is of help to you!! Take Care!

A nice bench made out of a couple of the stumps would be great! That way you can still enjoy your tree.

We had the same thing happened with our apple tree. I found a gentleman who makes bowls, candlesticks, ink pens and items out of wood. He is making me three bowls out of our tree so I can give one to each of my children.
