Hideaway Coffee Bar Microwave Station DIY

We recently remodeled this beachside kitchen that is small and in need of updating after 15 years. We had a fairly low budget and wanted to maximize every inch of space with less clutter. The coffee pot on the counter had to go and this is what we came up with!
The before was dated and everything builder grade. In this post I'm concentrating on explaining the cabinet that you see on the left that has the louvered bifold doors with wire pantry shelving.
We removed all of the wire shelving inside and brought the electrical through from the wall behind the new refrigerator into the back wall of the closet. This was a DIY project (we are general contractors) but would require an electrician for safety and knowledge. The doors still need handles but they were standard bifold panel doors from the local home improvement store that came primed.
I drew a sketch of what I wanted, which were pull out drawers with a ledge to keep the items from falling off. We handed the sketch to our cabinet maker who fabricated this in his shop. You could do something like this DIY if you are familiar with building and the full post is on the blog (linked below). Since this kitchen is small we still needed some shelves for food and condiments.
The full inside view and having the microwave out of sight is a bonus to a small space! The microwave is on a fixed shelf above the coffee bar and for serving coffee it's so handy to have the coffee bar shelf slide out.
I have FULL CAD PLANS for you on my blog Shabbyfufu that is linked below and lots of shots of the rest of the kitchen remodel, now complete!

love the idea! Is there a tray or something on the top shelf to catch spills or overflows? Concerned that it would be difficult to clean.
