I realize these are 11x14 pictures but what are the dimensions of the wood in length and width. Also how thick is the wood?

You would have to take your room dimensions and then graft out what would work in your room... the brown wood looks to be 2x2"s, the blue wood could be 2 pieces of plywood to create a box with an opening and framed with the 2x2s. Probably routed 2 grooves in the 2x2s to insert the plywood. I doubt they used 2" x 8" (or 12") x height it would be extremely heavy and expensive.

only way to be sure is to measure since we do not know the width of the wood. If you don't have a measuring tape handy, remember that a standard piece of paper is 8 1/2 X 11. You can use that to measure with in a pinch.

  • All depends on how wide the wood is that you are working with.

at a guess, I would say the frame wood it about 3". Since you have two on both length and width, add 6 inches to each. I'm guessing 17 x 20.

I found the blog that posted the tutorial but she didn't give the dimensions. If you read the comments, we all want to know the dimensions! LOL Inquiring minds want to know! http://krusesworkshop.blogspot.com/2014/03/we-been-framed.html

The original wood appears to be 1 x 3 and then the molding pieces appear to be the same wood turned sideways and cut at approx. 1.25" (since it sticks up from the frame about a quarter inch) by 1". The inside framing is just added on the front of the frame via brad nails (that's what it looks like) and appears to be possibly .25" by 1" and slightly overhangs the interior of the frame maybe about 1/8". So if the original interior is approx. 11 x 14 (size of photo) , then add 3" + 1" + 1/8 , you end up with a frame that would be 15 1/8" x 18 1/8" at the outer edge. These of course are approximate and based on what I 'see' because she's not specific. She did not router the interior so that the picture fit down into the frame, she states that she "taped" the pictures to the back of the frames.

please discuss that dimensions of a regular 2 x4 piece of wood, is not the same in a piece of cedar.
