I recently was in the dollar store and found a wooden hexagonal something-or-other.

Obviously I had to purchase it and figure out a way to make it useful.

And so a jewelry holder, it came to be.

I started by covering the wood in just a bunch of mod podged cuttings from a magazine I had at home. Cutting up magazine pages is surprisingly therapeutic stuff. icon

I really just had a fun time with it, and pasted on whatever cool pictures I deemed worthy.

Mod podging is crazy easy. I simply spread some on the back of the magazine pictures and stuck them on. I covered it all in a layer of glaze when I finished pasting, and let it sit overnight to dry.

I wasn't so into the pink background. Luckily I had some chalkboard tape (crazy useful and entertaining stuff) lying around, so I covered the back with that.

Then I went through my wine cork collection, cut them in half and stuck them on top of the tape using some good 'ol Krazy Glue.

It now serves as a sweet little stand on my night table to display jewelry and some inspirational words of wisdom.

what kind of glaze did you seal it with? I like the idea --have many old boxes in different shapes this would work with. thanks
