I have a tendency to neglect watering the poor flowers in my backyard. It starts out with the fact that we get a lot of rain here, so we don’t usually have to worry about watering at all, but we do have dry spells every once in awhile. Then when you add in a busy week that leads to us not going back there much, our little plants just don’t stand much of a chance.
This is a great solution, whether you’re busy and forgetful like I am, or if you’re just going to be away on vacation and want to make sure your plants will still have water.
Start out with a wine bottle that has a screw-on top. I used this chardonnay bottle because I just really liked the pretty green color of the glass. If you’re having trouble getting the label off completely, this trick always works for me!
Drill a few holes in the top of the lid with a fairly small drill bit.
Next, fill your bottle with water, screw the lid back on, and invert it into the soil next to your plant. Don't forget to click on the link below for more details and DIY photos to help you along the way!

How long would one wine bottle last? It would be a 6 week old plant.
