Has anyone ever painted their outdoor concrete front porch??

We have a covered/open porch in the front of our home. There were some cracks which my husband filled with a Sakrete product which is dark grey. I do not like how it looks. I was thinking maybe we could paint the concrete a very light grey color?? Any thoughts or advice?

Thank you
Denise

You can paint it! They sell concrete paint and concrete stain at Home Depot and Lowes, or similar stores. It should come with directions on how to use it, and you can look up how to do it online as well. Good luck!

Yes, I painted my garage floor for the exact same reason -- filled in cracks, then painted a darker color with cement paint. BUT FIRST, You MUST, MUST, MUST wash (pressure washing is best), then use Muriatic Acid to "etch" the floor for the paint. The paint WILL NOT stick long-term unless you do this one important step.

Karentokarse is correct! If your porch is slick, you HAVE to etch it, or the paint will peel, and you'll hate it. If it's a rough concrete, you should be able to paint it with Drylok from Lowe's, because it actually penetrates into the concrete and makes it waterproof. You can also have it tinted light colors. If you go to Lowes.com and type in "concrete paint" in the search box, it will give you some directions and also lots of ideas for concrete surfaces. I have a future project for my painted concrete porch...tiling it with various earth-toned, textured tiles.

Thank you Kristi for all of your advice. I'm going to check out Lowe's concrete paint.
