Do you have some china that you would like to display, but you don't have any room for a large china cabinet? Well, here is the solution...a corner china cabinet!
We used "Anna White" plans as a guide. We did not use bead board for a backing because that wouldn't match my decor. I was trying to match my 26 year old dining room table/chairs.
It was a weekend project to build and a 3 day project to refinish (allow drying for coats of polyurethane).
I sanded the entire cabinet using 150 grit sand paper first, and then I used 220 grit to ensure it was smooth. I used "Honey" colored Minwax Stain. I like to use cheap craft foam brushes from Walmart to apply the stain, and then I wipe off any excess.
We removed the cabinet doors to sand/stain and apply the polyurethane. I like to apply 4-6 coats of polyurethane (using 220 grit sandpaper to lightly sand between coats) for a smooth glossy shine.
After we put it in the dining room, the next decision was how to display the china! The bottom cabinet is great for storing extra china plates.
The finished product is simply beautiful and matches my dining room table & chairs perfectly.
