Getting nail polish out of cement

Rebecca
by Rebecca
My daughter spilled nail polish (red, of course) on my cement retaining wall, which is much rougher and porous than a sidewalk. I tried nail polish remover but that didn't help much. Any ideas? Thanks!

Try pouring on the polish remover then scrubbing hard with a wire brush. May have to do it several times.

I tried the remover, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and other remedies I found online, and nothing worked. BUT, I didn't think of the wire brush! THANKS!!!

Paint thinner or mineral spirits , you pour slowly while she scrubs with a brush .

If it doesn't come off , consider painting a mural on the wall and incorporate the stain into the picture .

LOL! It's on the top edge so maybe I could make a design with different colors dripping down the side of the wall!

Suggest maybe you Seal it and Paint it with a Grey maybe? Masonry Paint.............

That's a great idea - never thought of that! It's good to have a backup plan in case it doesn't come out which seems likely. Thanks!!!

Try vinegar, or alcohol, non-diluted. Good Luck!

After reading the suggestions, some of mine were the same. Do you really have to remove it or can you work with it. Find a similar paint color so it doesn't show or make merry and spread the cheer.

Thanks so much! I was finally able to get it out using a combination of vinegar, rubbing alcohol and, most importantly a wire brush!
