They are metal aren't they? I have never been in a metal roofed building where you couldn't hear the rain. Maybe someone knows a way to muffle it.

Ive been told if it is installed right with insulation, they aren't that noisy. Insurance in Ks will give you 35% off your rate. It sounds inticing.

If the metal is the only thing over the ceiling.

The plywood sheathing and underlayment used in home installation cut down the noise considerably, and metal roofs can even be installed right over an existing shingle roof, so the noise usually isn't bad.

Hello Bobdeb; When it rains, it makes some noise, but you do get used to it.

If you are having a metal roof put on, please know that it will last so much longer than a traditional roof!!!

I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!

My brother has one and I think it is a rather pleasant noise. Not what you would expect from metal because it is insulated from the interior of the house. I l love them!

I lived in a metal roofed house with a wraparound porch for over 14 years most rain storms could hardly be heard. But if we had a hale storm that could be quite noisy. But no damage to the metal roof.

    Northeast Texas.
