I've seen people make Christmas ornaments out of them by wapping the center part in bright Christmas fabric, threading a bell through the bottom, and making a loop on the top.

Is it 2 feet by 2 feet? So a smaller sized cable spool? I hope that is right, here are some ideas for wood spools around that size:

I've used them to organize ribbon; more sturdy than the flimsy cardboard originals it is wrapped around.

Someone wanted to know how to take the small baskets in a bathroom to hold kids bath toys if there isn't a towel bar as was shown. My suggestion is to take a plastic wreath hanger. (Won't rust if it were metal.) hang it on the bathroom curtain rod. Hope that helps.

Are these thread spools you're talking about or cable spools?

How about making a side table out of it for indoor or outdoor use? You can buy precut round wood at many hardware stores that you can fix for the top. Then, simply seal the wood and paint it for a unique table.

My daughter made little stools with hers. She painted the bottom and stem, then covered the top with fabric and stuffing. They looked like little mushrooms and were pretty comfortable.
