Help me get this dresser paint ready!

The dresser I am getting ready to paint has damaged veneer on the right bottom edge. How can I fix this before painting?

I cant view the picture. What did you end up doing with the damaged veneer?

on HGTV they painted the wood with wood glue covered it wax paper added weight removed the wax paper after it dried then painted
