Faux Concrete Countertop Coffee and End Table

I love the concrete look -- but really, concrete furnitures aren't cheap! They costs 200-500 and more just for a coffee table so I set out to do my own version using whatever we have at home.
So this is the kind of concrete coffee table I liked but don't have the $270 to spend. I really like the grey concrete top with black metal legs.
I bought a laminate top coffee table with the black legs that I really wanted for $40 on Craigslist. First thing we do is sand the top so that the concrete will have something to stick to.
I also bough t 2 side tables from a different seller on Craigslist for $30 for the set. Did the same thing with these tables (sanded the top with a sander).
While the hubby was sanding the table, I went and used our leftover tile mortar from doing our wood stove and put a generous amount on top and the sides of the coffee table. Probably supposed to use other kind of cement but I didn't wanna go out and buy other things and this was the leftover from our previous project.
Don't worry too much about the bumps and everything when its wet. After it dries, you can use a fine sand paper and sand them away.
This is what it came to after the cement dried and I have sanded the top to smoothen it out a little. It's not perfect but I kinda like it that way, gives it more of a raw cement feel.
This was the side table after we were done sanding it.
The next step was to seal the concrete top with something. I know this isn't the usual way, but I really did not want to spend any money doing this so I looked through our storage and found clear semi gloss paint we accidentally bought thinking it was white paint 
. So I used the clear semi gloss paint and painted all the concrete parts. Took about 3 coats.

And this is the finished result! We put the coffee table in the middle of our sectional and the side tables on each end.
Whatever works right? It has lasted us pretty well thus far, and for spending only $70 on the coffee table and side table set and $0 on making it a concrete look, I'd say its a win win

You are a very clever lady to think of using the tile mortar. Y'all did a great job........the results are amazing. The tables look wonderful with the other furnishings. It is people like you that make this site such a learning experience for all of us. Kudos!
