This gorgeous, girly bed frame was created by Brandi from The Junque Market with a little help from Full Bloom!
I have had a container of Country Chic Paint’s All-In-One Décor Paint in Full Bloom for a while now that I could not wait to try out. The hard part was deciding what I wanted to paint with it. I finally chose a bed from our shop as the lucky winner. I had a “new to me” painting technique in mind and Full Bloom was the perfect color choice for this bed.
I am a newbie to the furniture refinishing game, so all the different painting techniques that I find appealing and want to try are learning experiences for me. I wanted to try a new technique that I absolutely adore the look of – ombre painting. I know the ombre trend has been around for a while, but people seem to still be loving it, so I was going to give a shot.
I first divided the headboard and foot board into three equal sections, marking them with chalk, so that I would have a visual of where each color would begin and end. I decided to have the darkest shade at the bottom, so I applied Full Bloom to the bottom third of both parts of the bed. After two coats, I was ready to move on to the next section.
Before starting, I read a few tutorials on how to achieve the ombre effect. None of them really appealed to me, because they wanted me to have multiple jars of paint for a 3 tone ombre piece. They also wanted me to do some blending, which I was not totally comfortable with. For me, that was too much confusion. I kept it simple and simply mixed in some white paint with some Full Bloom in a separate container for my next third of the bed frame. The resulting color was a perfect match, of course.
I finished the middle portion of the ombre and let it dry. Then I got a slightly dampened sponge. I dipped the sponge in just a small about of the middle color and dragged it down over the darker bottom color to create a fading effect, dipping it in water and paint when I it got dry. When I was finished with that, I mixed more white paint into the previous mixture to achieve an even lighter color of the Full Bloom. Then once again, I used the dampened sponge and paint to pull down that color over the middle section.
All in all, I would say this turned out pretty neat. It was definitely a learning experience. I am looking forward to trying it on a bigger piece of furniture. A little different from the typical ombre, but I like it. How about you?

Don't you love trying new techniques? What kind of paint is Country Chic and was the white you added to it the same kind? By the way , your ombré technique reminds me of the flame stitch done in needlework and I could certainty visualize a pretty quilt or fluffy white chenille bedspread on it.
I love this look. Did you have to prepare the wood first? Sand it?
