Why is my grapefruit tree producing smaller fruit?

    It probably needs more fertilizer, or (more likely) more water.

      They won't be fully ripened until around December. However, some of the fruit are average sized grapefruit, but a lot of them end up the size of oranges.

    this happened to me during drought here in so cal, citrus requires lots of water.

    Lack of watering when tree started blossoming. Need to water atleast every other day for 4 or 5 hours.

    Are you thinning them? If not, you get more fruit, but it will be considerably smaller.

    If this is a mature tree (has produced fruit in the past), you need to have it pruned properly to produce proper size fruit. If there are too many smaller branches the tree spends too much energy keeping three branches nurtured. Then there will not be enough energy to produce fruit. Citrus should be fertilized twice a year. Proper watering is also essential. Google for more precise information for your area. If you have an Agricultural office in your area, call them.
