Be absolutely sure that you use a primer that is also a stain blocker. I didn't do that when I painted unfinished oak cabinets. I used a paint with primer instead. Kitchen looked great. Six months after I finished my kitchen , I began to notice that some of the doors, drawer fronts and framing were taking on a yellow tint. This is caused by the tannins that are found in most woods. It leeches through the paint which causes that yellow tint. Long story short. Always use a stain blocking primer. I had to lightly sand entire kitchen and repaint with Behr paint which has a stainblocker primer in it.. It's a step up in price but well worth it. I would use this product even if your not painting an unfinished wood. Extra insurance for a perfect project.
